Working with a GIS is very much an on-screen affair. GIS professionals spend their time manipulating information, orchestrating multiple layers and tables viewing maps and imagery as part of their work and much more besides. However it still amazes me that printing in some of the very sophisticated GIS packages available today is a lengthy and cumbersome process. Printing is an important part of project work and should call on the power of today’s software and hardware to do this. Sadly the tools in many instances are plain disappointing.
